About the Writing Center

The BHS Student Writing Center was founded with one purpose - to build a space for students to grow as writers by connecting with other writers. We encourage student empowerment through words, and strive to help students discover and expand their enthusiasm for the craft of writing. Whether you are brainstorming about an upcoming assignment, or looking for an extra pair of eyes to look over your final draft, our passionate team of student "Writing Fellows" are here to help.

We invite you to explore our site and also to visit the BHS Student Writing Center in person.  We are located in the Lower Library. Get in touch with us today to schedule a tutoring session, learn more about becoming a Writing Fellow, or just stop by and write with us!

Our Core Values:

COLLABORATION

The Writing Center is committed to making sure the tutoring process is collaborative, removing the normal teacher-student dynamic.

Empowerment

The Writing Center is committed to empowering BHS students to share and be proud of their writing.

Growth

The Writing Center is NOT a fix-it workshop, our purpose is for our students to grow as writers, not just get a better grade.

Community

The Writing Center is committed to enriching the community with writing related events like De-Stress December.

"The first draft is just you telling yourself the story."
